The Big Ten: Fall Of An Empire

8223869677_3391cc7ef0_z   The Big Ten conference in college football is one of the least popular FBS conferences in college football today. The reason for that is the lack of talent, and the lack of popularity for the teams within the conference. The most popular teams in the conference are Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan. These three teams are the only teams that are making a name for the Big Ten.

That name, however, is quickly disappearing; and Rolling Stone explained how with saying “The precipitous fall of the Big Ten in the 21st century was highlighted, most notably, by Ohio State’s back-to-back losses in national championship games at the end of the 2006 and 2007 seasons.” Recently, the only teams keeping the Big Ten alive also killed the Big Ten in week one of the 2014 season. Ohio State was upset at home against a great Virginia Tech team, and Michigan was shutout in the last game ever against Notre Dame! The biggest game was the No.1 defense of Michigan State against the No. 1 offense of Oregon, and Michigan State gave up twenty eight unanswered points to cap its’ loss to Oregon! needless to say, the Big Ten is nonexistent after week one!

  1. I think the Big Ten earns a little more credit than just those three teams you listed. Lets not forget about Nebraska, Penn St. and Wisconsin along with the fact that Michigan has the most wins all time in FBS. But they are definitely off to a bad start.
