Who Doesn’t Like The Post Office?

It really is hard to dislike your neighborhood postal worker. They are like a neighbor you see everyday that minds their own business. The post office makes it easier for you to, not only send packages to your friends and family, but also receive packages that are shipped to you.
The post office partnered with Amazon and now delivers on Sundays! No other parcel service does that, that is one reason they are better than the rest. Time.com also expressed great survey results collected by Gallup on the post office saying, ” 72% of Americans say the U.S. Postal Service is doing an excellent or good job. That puts the USPS ahead of 12 other government agencies, including the FBI, the CDC, NASA and the CIA. And the younger the respondent, the more likely they were to think highly of our much-maligned courier: 81% of 18-to-29-year-olds rated the post office’s job as excellent or good, while 65% of those over 65 said the same thing.” I concur with the survey results explaining how the post office is America’s favorite government association. Seriously though, who doesn’t like the post office?

What About The Others?

The article USA Today published about Leah Still is inspired and filled with emotion. The author, Martin Rogers, has experienced losing a newborn baby after only a few days. I can’t imagine what that is like, but I do now feel for him, along with Devon Still and his daughter Leah Still, who is battling cancer.
Although it was a very well written article, I do have some problems with it. In regards to the article being about young Leah Still, I feel Rogers puts too much emphasis on young children. the post Rogers states, “In the cases of those whose small ones don’t make it, the grief is always there, like a heavy and uncomfortable shadow, and one that can turn around and strike you in the gut at any time.” That right there makes me think that he is saying that the grief isn’t there for people like me who recently lost their father to the same cancer that Leah Still is battling. I cried during that game Thursday too; not just because she was a child battling cancer and was being so brave, but because it reminded me of the grief I still had about my father. It doesn’t just affect the ones who lost a child, it affects the people who lost loved ones to cancer also!
Star Players Doesn’t Always Make It A Team

Just because you have stars like LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love doesn’t make it a team. Photo via Flickr/Erik Drost
Many people watched the “return” game for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers and were disappointed with the results of the game. That’s all fine and dandy, but fans need to realize that, especially in the NBA, no team is going to win every game. There will be losses where the star players don’t perform up to snuff, and sometimes they occur at the wrong times. cleveland.com reported James’ stats from the game “James finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and four assists. But those numbers do little to tell the story of James’ game. He shot 5-of-15 from the field, but at halftime he was 1-of-9. He committed eight turnovers, two in the fourth quarter.”
Fans, also, need to realize that just because you have a team of star players doesn’t always make it a complete team. Players need to find chemistry with each other and be able to play with each other to be a complete team. Once they find that, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA. Until then, expect some losses here and there.
Crossfit: Like To Be Like Mike!
We have now come to a time where working out isn’t just working out anymore. In today’s world, everything is about improvement. Everyone is worried about how they look; they see these muscular athletes and want to look like them. They do this with extreme fitness called crossfit.
Crossfit requires a lot more pep in your step than traditional workouts. You like to run? Well crossfit will have you running with thick chains on your shoulders. Crossfit makes me think of football workouts, on the field, being brought to a gym. Flipping tractor tires, pushing heavy pieces of metal a certain distance or even testing your vertical by jumping on boxes and adding another box after you’ve completed the previous one. The New York Times article even states, ” “Forging Elite Fitness,” reflects our current fascination with both elite athletes and elite military forces.” Many people say they want to look like those athletes or Marines, so how do they do it? They workout like the athletes and Marines workout, so they adopt the extreme exercises they use. I guess people are taking the phrase “like Mike” a little too seriously.

Masters Of The Comeback!

Someone tell the fat lady she is on in five! That is what the Los Angeles Dodgers were thinking with a 6-1 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals. I think one certain Dodger may have jinxed them! I think this because the Cardinals fought back to win the game 10-9 and held off the Dodgers in the ninth inning.
I still have a hard time believing the words of Carl Crawford when he said “With Kershaw on the mound, I was like everyone else, I thought the game was over.” There is no way after seeing what happened to the Texas Rangers in 2011 that you can believe that you have the game locked down! The Rangers were one strike away from World Series glory in back-to-back championship clenching games and the Cardinals fought back and won in both! The only logical explanation why one would think that way is because David Freese now plays for the Los Angeles Angels, and he was the hero in those two comeback wins against the Rangers; but let’s face it, the Cardinals have the majority of the players on the team still! Little league players need to look at the St. Louis Cardinals as proof that no game is over until it’s over!
